The Fairfax CERT program prepares citizens to safely help themselves, their families, and their communities during major emergencies where first responders are delayed. Fairfax resident volunteers can be trained, for FREE, to prepare, react, and organize themselves for potential various emergencies. The programs is a nationwide initiative under FEMA and DHS, but run at the county level. Training include disaster response, fire suppression, light search & rescue, and basic medical operations. Additionally, graduates of the free CERT training program receive free emergency response gear, as seen on their websites!:
The Ring Neighborhood Security program provides training to identified and selected neighborhood residents so that they can further help reduce crime in one's community. A newly identified 'Ring Master' has been trained on the Ring systems, and how to help neighbors select, and even help install them if necessary. Additionally, under this new program, our representative may also allow for an exclusive discount on Ring Video Doorbell and Security Camera products for up to $25 per product. Even if you don't have Ring products yet, what everyone can do right NOW is to download Ring’s 'Neighbors" app on your phone, and join the neighborhood in watching and sharing alerts and images of suspicious or possibly criminal activity captured on other Ring devices. (https://ring.com/neighbors) Its all about preventing, reporting, and reducing crime, proactively.
If you are interested in either program, simply meet our rep at National Night Out this Tuesday under the green CERT canopy. But foremost, lets remember and celebrate our men & women in blue, and let them know that we support them this Tuesday!"
