Proposed Innovation Station Walkway

Innovation Station North Neighborhood Shared Use Path

Dranesville Supervisor John Foust and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) held a Virtual Community Information Meeting on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 7 p.m., to discuss the Innovation Station North Neighborhood Access project. This project will construct a new shared use path from the Innovation Metrorail Station to the adjacent neighborhoods to provide enhanced access to the new station. Preliminary design of the project was presented, and the public will has the opportunity to ask questions and provide input.

Background

The Innovation Station North Neighborhood Access project will provide a direct pedestrian and bicycle connection from the Innovation Metrorail Station to the adjacent neighborhoods. The project will consist of constructing a 10’ wide, approximately 2,000’ long shared use path. The path will connect the recently constructed Innovation Metrorail Station North Pavilion Kiss and Ride Parking Lot to the residential community at Farougi Court and the townhome community at Apgar Place. The connection will significantly reduce the trip length between the station and surrounding neighborhoods.
